“As one of the Coaches of Raging Dragons, I would like to say that after (and still) working with Jenny (Nimbo) since March 2015, all our Rage members who decided to take full advantage of these challenging sessions with Jenny have fully benefited and have improved immensely with their fitness, stamina and strength.
Doing this fitness sessions, as a team we have improved so much this season and the proof of this is that Rage has achieved a respectable 5th place in the British Dragon Boat National league, racing against some very strong teams.
Jenny makes the team work very hard every Tuesday night, and she targets all the right areas to make us stronger, this allow us to last longer when we race. As an ex-Rager paddler herself, Jenny fully understands what we require to compete well on the water, and the exercises she executes helps us as a team to achieve just that.
For me her experience and professionalism is next to none, so no matter if anyone wants to get fitter/stronger for personal reasons or because they belong to a team or club, Jenny is the personal trainer you need!
Jenny, I would like to take this opportunity to say a personal thank you to you, working with you at your circuits not only made me stronger, compete well and perform to my max in all my races in Canada’s World Championships with Team GB this year, but also made this experience a fantastic journey for me, we even managed to come back home with 3 bronze medals after racing against some top world countries like Australia, Canada, USA, Germany and many more, so thank you!”
I am a 45 year old male, and consider myself to be reasonably fit. I use the gym regularly and can row on a Concept 2 rower for 14,500m in an hour. My goal is to row 15,000m in an hour. I realised I had to find help to gain the extra strength and stamina needed to achieve my goal so I decided I would use a personal trainer.
I watched Jenny training other people and what impressed me most was the way she truly engaged with her clients and concentrated 100% on their technique and form. This gave me the confidence to choose Jenny as I knew there would be little or no risk of any training injury, which becomes more of a factor as you get a little older.
Jenny really understood what I wanted to achieve she also fully understood the specific technique needed for the Concept 2 rower. Jenny also understood the best and most comfortable way for me to achieve my goals. Jenny wrote the perfect programme for me, Jenny kept the programme exciting with a different routine every day over the week; this really was the key motivator as I knew I could work out very intensely with fewer exercises than I was doing before.
Already after the first week I have become a leaner, stronger me. I would really recommend Jenny to people of all levels and of all ages to achieve whatever goals they have. Well done Jenny and thank you!
“From the day I first met Jenny at the start of my CrossFit sessions at CrossFit SE11, I have been constantly learning about how to demonstrate correct technique and performance. I thoroughly enjoy my CrossFit sessions with Jenny as I always come away from a class having gained useful knowledge that I can take with me and apply to the next class. I feel I have more confidence in this regard.
I really respond well to the way her lessons are conducted, if there is something out of place or not done correctly, Jenny will make sure you are aware of it and ensure that you perform to the best of your ability. You know when Jenny says a job well done it is really meant as she strives for high standards. Her encouragement and support throughout the class is received positively.
Jenny not only perfects your technique but also gives you a clear breakdown of how the different body parts are linked together which enables you to understand why you carry out certain moves and this helps improve your overall performance. She has a wealth of knowledge about the human anatomy and it comes across in her teaching.
I like that Jenny looks at each individual holistically and adapts exercises to best suit that person. I feel confident with her training and have developed my technique since I have attended her classes. I would definitely recommend anyone from beginners to advanced crossfitters to attend her dynamic , insightful and effective sessions.
Thank you Jenny for being such an amazing coach!”
When I moved back to London, I joined the gym and signed up for personal training. I knew I needed a bit of focus and that I might not do what I needed to do on my own. I am someone who is motivated by pleasing someone else and hearing “Well done!” I haven’t looked back since.
I really enjoyed the first sessions with Jenny and quickly knew that it would be something I would want to prioritise. I had gone from doing next to no exercise to feeling the burn of a tough workout, experiencing achy muscles the next day and absolutely loving it.
A couple of months later, my boyfriend proposed and I then knew that in addition to wanting to be strong and healthy, I was also going to have the classic excuse to keep up the personal training – a wedding dress to wear! I never wanted to be a skinny bride, I knew that wasn’t me. I wanted to look healthy and the best version of myself that I could achieve in 9 months.
Jenny was a huge support. She understood what I was trying to achieve. She was constantly encouraging and kept on pushing me. I worked hard but our sessions were so much fun that I always looked forward to them. I was motivated to work hard in between so that I could beat the things that were difficult in the previous session. What I have always liked about our sessions is the variety. I don’t think we’ve ever had the same session twice in the last 16 months.
I lost 12 kilos in 10 months and felt brilliant. When the wedding photos came I was delighted with how I looked. Training for me has been about far more than weight loss and the image in the mirror. I am no longer envious of naturally slimmer friends, I don’t care that they might be able to wear a smaller size in jeans if they are physically weak or don’t have a healthy approach to managing their weight. I love feeling strong. I love knowing I can lift weights, that I can run and that my body is capable of far more than I would have expected.
I’ve learnt a lot about myself through training. There have been sessions where my goals seemed so far away and something was so hard that I would want to cry and give up. Jenny never made me feel bad for that. She’d give me the space to get my head sorted and come back to the particular exercise that was so hard. I’d always pick the weight back up and finish the set with Jenny encouraging me all the way. I’ve learnt how quickly the body can strengthen itself so that when I try something for the first time I now know that I’ll beat it in the end.
The fact that Jenny has been through the challenge of changing her body herself makes her a very understanding trainer. She knows what it takes and she sets a great, healthy example of working hard but enjoying life at the same time. I didn’t feel like I was missing out on the things I liked, I was just a bit more clever about how I ate and drank.
The mental impact of training has become particularly apparent for me recently. My husband and I are expecting our first child and have joined a hypnobirthing class. Hypnobirthing is essentially a process to help you understand how the body manages labour and how to engage your mind through deep self relaxation techniques to dispel the fear of labour, relieving you of the pain brought on by tension. At my first session, as I learnt about the relationship the brain’s approach to managing labour and the impact it has on the body I couldn’t help but think that personal training with Jenny has been a really good grounding for it. Through personal training I’ve understood so much about what my body is capable of and I’ve learnt to trust my body. I feel confident that my body can cope with the pressures of pregnancy and the challenge of labour.
Jenny is helping me to stay fit during pregnancy which will also help with labour and recovery. The approach has changed a bit though! Instead of “if you can talk you’re not working hard enough” it’s now “you should be able to talk while exercising/don’t get too hot” but it’s still fun and I’m still feeling the burn and still feeling like I’ve worked hard afterwards. I’m also really excited about getting back into “proper” training after the baby is born. What’s lovely about Jenny is that she shares my excitement and makes me feel like she’s 100% there to help. She takes a real interest and clearly gets satisfaction out of seeing her clients succeed.
There’s no way I could have achieved my goals without Jenny and I can’t imagine wanting to take on the next phase without her! Bring it on!
